Hobo chic?!

Hello dear reader,

Today's blog started on the 19.16 train from Finsbury Park and ended at home in my PJ's after a particularly awful commute home. The Victoria line decided to suspend itself just as I wanted to board so I found myself squashed onto the Piccadilly line instead. Now, there are many advantages to being 5ft 2, those of which mainly involve bring able to wear the highest of heels, but I discovered tonight a major disadvantage of being pocket size. I literally got carried onto the Piccadilly line by an impatient commuter. I'm not sure if it was because he didn't see me or if he just didn't care. Needless to say I had no choice but to cosy up the man standing in front of me. I don't even give my best friends that kind of contact let alone a complete stranger!

As many of you know I am officially the only single person in the world and to make matters worse I work in a all female office (one of the perils of working in fashion darling) which means my male contact starts and finishes on the London Underground. This means I have absolutely no idea if and when a man is chatting me up. For example whilst squashed intimately on the Piccadilly line a gentleman to my right began to talk to me, the conversation went like this:

Man: Would you like to stand here? [against the side seats].
Me: No, I'm fine but thank you anyway.
Man: Hot on here isn't it.
Me: Yes.
Man: The Victoria line is down tonight which is why its so busy.
Me: I know, what a nightmare.

Now I have no idea if he was just being friendly, trying to chat me up or just merely bored? All I know is that I acted like a girl who had never spoken to a man. I seriously need some help!!!!!

I'm afraid there is no 'what I'm wearing today' photo because quite frankly I look like a hobo. I am also full of cold with a nose brighter than Rudolph's!

On a much brighter note Paris fashion week started today which only means one thing, Chanel's AW12/13 show is just around the corner and quite frankly to me that is what its all about. Show us Karl what you've got!!!

Until next time...

Cest Chic....Oui Oui

Hello dear readers,

After 3 days off the blog I'm back again. I have still fallen out with Monday's and don't feel like I can forgive it any time soon. It hasn't been made any better by a horrible commute home. I would like to share with you the following reasons why I hate commuting which are heightened on a Monday:

  • Smelly people - no need, no excuse.
  • People who talk loudly on the phone - refer to the above.
  • People who play music loudly on their iphone/ipads/ipods - see bullets points 1 and 2 for reasons.
  • People in general - need I say more.
Now I know that this makes me sound like a grumpy old woman but now that I am 29 I feel that it gives me rein to be a miserable old cow for a least once a week! OK, moan is now over.

On a lighter note for all you Peta fans out there I have found her again on the AW12 catwalks. Peta, ladies and gentleman has become friends with Joseph and has taken inspiration from his technocoloured dream coat. Peta is not only back for AW12 but she also multicoloured. I will now be on Peta watch for the remainder of fashion week.

So, today I wore. a vintage dress from Topshop, vintage shoes, new look belt and also (any vegetations reading should look away now) the new love of my life...,my vintage black fur coat, bought from the Hammersmith vintage fair yesterday. Is it real I hear you cry? Why yes, yes it is....but this coat is not just any fur coat, oh no. First and foremost it is French and second it is rabbit fur and can you get more chic the a black French rabbit? I think not. I feel a name coming on for this dear coat of mine and any suggestions will be greatly received. Get thinking and let me know.

Until tomorrow xxx

P.S Happy Birthday to Miss Jenny Connor or as like to call her Totes. At 27 you are nearing my age which means it wont be long until you become old and miserable, enjoy! xxx

Bloody Pantone Reference

Hi All,

Firstly thank you everyone for your lovely comments on my blog which lets face it is a bit self indulgent of me. I'm glad you are all enjoying it and I do promise that you will all get a mention at some point.

Now onto today's proceedings. I had a minor mishap with a pair of fabric scissors whereby I cut my poor little pinky finger. If it weren't for the nursing skills of both Emily and Helen I fear I may not of made it! It is of course only the size of a small paper cut but with my reaction it may of well of been a severed arm. I even had to take a paracetamol! We did decide however that my blood would make for a great red on a jumper and did think about maybe matching it to a pantone reference and sending it off for our suppliers to dip. Imagine that, pantone ref AB11226TPX; Laura's blood! I think it could work!

A cut pinky I think went well with today's outfit. Leggings from Topshop, Shirt from Miss Selfridge, Navajo cardigan from Forever 21 and River Island wedges from before.

The commute home tonight for a change wasn't too stressful with the exception of screaming children and people who decide to take a lovely slow stroll along the tube platform. Move and shut the f up is my response to both of those! I think I may need to go out more during the week. Please if anyone could help me with this do let me know.

Now for today's fashion note (or maybe not); For those who have always yearned for a Bart Simpson jumper, fear not no more because I have found it, courtesy of Jeremy Scott.

One more day and counting until Friday and London Fashion Week starts tomorrow!!! xxx

P.S. I'm sure you are all secretly glad of my severed I mean cut finger otherwise today's blog would of been shit!

I can almost smell the weekend....and it smells soooo good!

Hello dear reader (so that's dear Cass, Gemmons and Harricot then...hello girls),

Today's blog I'm afraid will be short and sweet (much like myself) because I'm 1. very sleepy and 2. had a slightly stressful commute home. I did realise though somewhere between Reading and London that the £500 I spend on my season ticket does 100% go on the National Rail Christmas party but it certainly doesn't go on extra trains or seats. I had to stand all the way from Reading to Paddington and also on tube to Oxford Street. The journey was brightened though up bumping into a friend on the Bakerloo line from university that I hadn't seen for years, which was a lovely lovely surprise. The last leg of the journey included me having to listen the classical music coming from the earphones of the man next to me, I felt like I was in a horror film and I was his victim! That journey certainly does kill me! The evening did end with my mate Big Mac and Chips, I'm pretty sure that's part of the BMF training! Oooops!

So anyway today I wore a oversized jumper from H&M, denim shirt from Primark, vintage leather skirt and wedges from River Island.

One last thing before I go (and I do realise that this blog isn't short nor is it sweet, oh well) and this is for all the fans of Peta. I found Peta on steroids in the Marc Jacobs AW12 show (see below photo). Peta will back next winter and some.

Tuesday 14th February

All you need is love, love, love. Except for me I need a large glass of pinot and a malborough light! Roll on Pinot Friday. Today in honour of St Valentine I wore a vintage red dress with white polka dots and blue vintage shoes.

I did receive 2 valentine cards today......both from my 2 of my besties which was very sweet of them, you know who you are ladies and big love to you! The only other valentine experience I had tonight was a packed Victoria line on my way home, I fell into the bloke standing next to me. I can safely say that's the most amount of male contact I had in ages! I am know at home spending Valentines night with my mother. God, my life so sad right now. Miss Bridget Jones you have nothing on me! Maybe pinot Friday will help me and my sad state of  a love life. It doesn't need resuscitating because it was never alive in the first place! Ha ha.

A happy valentines to you all.

What I wore today

Monday 13th February

Put you're hands up in of you like Monday mornings?...... so that's just students and the unemployed then! Yuk, I don't care for Monday's particularly when my alarm goes off at 5.50am! That means that I have to be super organised on Sunday nights in regards to what I'm going to wear the next day. So today I wore a vintage dress from the Sue Ryder charity shop in Reading, black belt from H&M, vintage shoes from Rokit with vintage shoe clips from my BBF for my birthday (that used to belong to her Mum!!! That makes them even more special). Apolgies for the photo's I'm not sure if they are OK or not I'm not great with technology, I still get amazed that you can check your emails on your phone let alone take a photo. They will get better I promise!

My obsession with Eddie Redmayne started last night, evidence is on FB. He is hotter than american hot pizza and I would like a slice please! Please Eddie take me to the BAFTA's next year I've got an amazing vintage dress hanging in my wardrobe just waiting to be worn and it def goes with hunk!

Until tomorrow xoxo Vintage Dahling x

The Stretchy Pant!

So within the last 7 days  have had more than 2 requests to start writing my blog so here it is back by popular demand. My last and (first) entry was to be honest a bit rubbish mostly because I was suffering from a 2 day hangover from New Years Eve and my friend J's birthday so I'm here to start again, to start my new years resolution in the middle of February! This blog will mostly be about my life as a single girl working in fashion and living in London. I also wanted to incorporate my love of vintage by trying to wear a piece of vintage each day however I soon realised that why I do have a lot of vintage I don't quite have enough to cover 366 days (see I even remembered that its a leap year this year!) so instead I'm going to just blog about my love of vintage, my love of fashion and all that surrounds it. I may throw in a few 'what I'm wearing today' photos as and when I feel the outfit is blog worthy.

I also want to back track slightly and start my blog from last Saturday 4th February. So here goes....enjoy.

(N.B. I wont be mentioning any ones full name just the first letter of their name)

Saturday 4th February
The day started with alarm going off at 7.30 to go BMF training in the freezing cold. Some may think I'm a mentalist for waking up that early to run around a park in the freezing cold but if you could see my hips you'd see why get up and do it. They seriously need their own postcode! This day would also be the day / night I would celebrate my 29th birthday with some of my greatest friends. I wore a turquoise dress from New York and some colour block heels from Topshop. The night was a great success despite the snow and me falling over before 6pm! Classic me!

Sunday 5th February - Friday 10th February
These 6 days consisted of the following:
Sunday - Hungover all day long. Mostly wore my Pineapple tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt and cardigan and ate carbs! Yes I know I work in fashion but we all have our off days!
Monday - Friday - I mostly wore leggings, my emergency knitwear and hunter wellies. A 2 hour commute in when its been snowing doesn't allow much more. I been wearing the uniform of an American who has eaten too many burger's. Hey, where have my stretchy pants and sweater's gone? There all in my wardrobe love and you're not getting them back until this snow has gone!

Saturday 11th February
BMF training in the snow, spent most of it on my arse in the snow. Cold to my bones.
Went to see 'The Pitman Painters' with my Dad. Bloody amazing play, I highly reccomend it! Wore the fat lady leggings again avec boots and lurex gold cardigan, my wool mix camel coat and rabbit fur stole and of course the Chanel bag dahhhling!

Sunday 12th February
Happy Birthday to my dear dear friend L! Today I went horse riding in the snow! I'm not sure why I keep choosing activities that involve being outside! Wore jodhpurs of course, but don't worry dear reader the fat lady's stretchy pants are back on right now as I write. Oh stretchy pant how I love thee.

Until next time xoxo Vintage Dahling xxx
