1990 Mum Chic

What's this I hear you cry...an actual post from Vintage Dahling? Yes, yes it is. Is been a while but as they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. This post comes to you after a wonderful boozy lunch with the even more wonderful Genevieve in London Town.  I know its been a while but as they say all good things come to those who wait! For those who know we well, its been a while because I've been busy being a 'lady what lunches...sometimes boozy sometimes not'. In truth I have taken some time out from the ever demanding fashion industry to find my dream job. Its been a wonderfully relaxing few weeks with moments of sheer panic but all in all I'm happy girl with an exciting future....I hope.

In all honesty I'm blogging today because I'm wearing my new favourite vintage dress that is all red and denim like and very 1990's Mum at sports day! I love it. I bought it from a vintage market in Canterbury when I visited the bestie one weekend. It went very well with the half a bottle of pinot I shared with my favourite party girl.

The Pinot is here to stay this weekend as its the gorgeous Amie's 29th Birthday tomorrow...welcome to the old girls club my dear...its great fun...honesty! We are off out in Reading for an Hawaiian style night out. I've not been to Reading much this year....I hope it doesn't take me too long to get there by train!!! All I do know is that the weekend will be as ever defined by a bottle of the good stuff and a overly social Malbourgh light.

I'm sure next week I'll have some wine fuelled Hawaiian style photos to share with all and some more interesting news from the weekends antics. Its all vintage from here on out so keep your eye out for me!

Pinot Malibu Barbie

It has taken me 5 days and 2 pinot nights out to recover from last weekend and here's why...

Last Friday night was drinks in Liverpool Street with Claire and Rachel. I literally belong in a bar next to the Gerkin eyeing up city boys and drinking wine. To partake in said event I wore my absolute favourite vintage dress . It's from Rokit and I am head over heels for it. It's the right amount of preppy with a mix of pilgrim. Preppy pilgrim in you like.

During the evening I had a slight senior moment when talking of my plans for the rest of the year. I had to ask Claire what 'those moon parties are called in Thailand' because I would quite like to do one for my 30th! I'm not sure after having to ask said question if I should be allowed entry. Who ordered the OAP because she is well past her sell by date.

Saturday saw another celebration day for my Mum's birthday. The Saturday before had been at The Oxo Tower dahling. Yeah, I know how to luncheon. The 2nd round took us to the Ivy and then to see The Mousetrap for a bit of who dunnit. Agatha my dear you may not of been the best writer in the world but you certainly knew how to crete intrigue. The mouse got proper caught. N.B. My great use of language! Hypercritical of me perhaps but effective all the same.

My evening did not stop there. Once all rodents had been seen to I ventured to Oxford Street for a 30th birthday. On arrival I said the immortal words 'I'm def getting the tube home at 11 tonight. I'm exhausted'. Fast forward a few pivots and malbourgh lights and oh yes I'm still in Aqua at kicking out time of 1am. The drinking did continue though thereafter with a final head rest at 4am! I did ALL this in a barbie pink vintage dress from Traid and aqua blue shoes from Dune. Here I am looking like Pinot barbie. All I need now is Ken, my barbie jeep and miles of Malibu beach. Like totally!

This week has been tiring but I've still managed a lovely catch up and dinner with my ultimate bestie Becki and after work drinks with my favourite party girl and BFF Gen. Its my duty to Pinot to keep on going. We wouldn't want a slum in sales now would we.

This weekend I'm off to the races for a birthday celebration and here is a sneak preview of what I'm planning to wear.  Will update with any going on's in next weeks blog. One last note before I depart and get some much needed beauty sleep...the sun finally put his hat on and said hip hip hooray...I say Pims, Pinot and Prosecco all in the month of May.

Until we meet again xxx

2 is the magic number!

I love Thursday nights mostly because it means it'll be Friday in the morning but also because the trains are so much emptier. Londoners are out having a pre-weekend drink and I thank them for it because it means I get a seat on the train(s). In that same breath however I do wonder if at 29 I should be out having that same drink and not sat on a (less) busier train with other commuters.....mmmm maybe next week!

My age is going to run as a theme in today's post, not because I think 29 is old, more that I feel that 30 is ever approaching and there is still loads to be done before my age loses the '2'. Many questions enter my head on a daily basis. Some of them go a bit like this. Should I get a boyfriend now that partying has replaced any kind of loving in my life? Then that is rather presumptuous of me, I don't even know if I could even get one. Also those who know we well know I'm not conventional, I like to be unique, different and basically not the same so surely getting a boyfriend would go against my beliefs and if you don't have your beliefs you don't have nuffink!!. Having said that if Don Draper walked into the same bar I was drinking Pinot in and told me I had to marry him I would not disobey him. Hmmm I wonder if they sell boyfriends in Rokit?

Fashion is at a all time low today. As the week moves on my fashionability moves backwards so definitely no photo today. Call me Mr Raider call Mr Wrong call me insane call me Mr Vain cause I know what I want....and it's not to show you all how bad my fashion is today. I like to share with you my favourite vintage pieces mixed with high street not head to toe 'I was tried so I shoved this on'. Come back though this weekend because I have some proper winners to show you in the shape of some very vintage and fabulous dresses.

Until next time xxx

You should probably just call me Hugh Grant

It's been a few days since I posted and that's mainly because I have been considerably lazy enjoying my week off work. I did however in the days since my last post go to the Hardy-Field wedding in Bicester. It was a perfect day. I cried, I laughed, I danced, I drank a lot of wine and I was literally the LAST person to leave the wedding! You should never ever be the last person to leave the party unless you share the same surname as an actress named Kiera! The bride was quite simply born to be a bride and took my breath away when she walked down the aisle, the groom gave an amazing heart felt speech which made tears roll down my face and the bridesmaids looked like 1950's Hollywood starlets. The rain held off and although it was a little cold it didn't matter because most of us remembered our alcohol jackets. You've got to love a wine windbreaker!

I wore a blue vintage maxi dress from Rokit, a vintage gold belt and a Lulu Guinness charm necklace all worn with my new blonde locks. I'm now 3 weddings down with 2 more to go. The next wedding is in 4 weeks time when Winner's gets married and I'll have a new accessory to go with my vintage dress for that special day!

I've just finished watching 'The Iron Lady' and love her or hate her Margaret Thatcher was an incredibly strong women who like me has a passion for pearls, and in my book that means she rocks.

Tomorrow I'm back at work and have a serious case of the blues. Although the thought of commuting again feels me with fear it does mean that I can get my vintage on again and how I have missed it so. There are only so many ways you can wear leggings and a t-shirt. I need to get my fashion face back on.

Until tomorrow xxx

A beautiful rainy day

There is nothing better in life than when the weekdays belong to you and only you. These days come few and far between but when they arrive they are quite simply glorious. I'm on a week off from work and could not be happier. The feeling of waking upon a Wednesday morning and not having to get on 4 trains to work is better than finding that amazing vintage dress or the sound of a empty glass of wine being filled from a nice cold bottle of pinot or when you were at school and you found out the boy you fancied likes you too. I'm not sure if you've got this yet but I am loving having a time off work. Its not because I'm lazy or work shy its more to do with working in a faced past environment that just tires me out and I'm no spring chicken any more, I'm just a chicken who needs rest and relaxation, although not in a barn, this chicken is free-range.

Not only has this time of allowed me some much needed 'me' time it has also allowed me to recover from the Price-McAloon wedding that took place on Sunday 29th April in the not so sunny Shipton Mallet in Somerset. Oooh Arrr! All I can say is this.....it was the most amazing, beautiful wedding. I enjoyed every second, from the Hugh Grant moment of sprinting to the church in my heels because one false turn in the car had left us lost and late to the rustic Narnia named hotel room I inhabited for the night to the wonderful speeches from Father to Groom to Best Man to the wine and champagne that went down so so well to the late night drinks with ALL the ushers and just me to the beautiful, beautiful bride and the made for each other Mr & Mrs Price. Such a wonderful perfect day. Please can you do it again!

I wore to the wedding a blue floral vintage dress I had bought it the good old Sue Ryder charity shop in Reading for no more than £30. The dress received some pretty amazing compliments for which it is greatly appreciative of. It now of course is in serious need of a dry clean after its party like behaviour. It had a great time though!

The weather this week really needs to start being pro-active and must try harder in the sunshine stakes. Its the lovely Laura Hardy's wedding on Friday and we need sunshine like I need a lottery win...right now and like totally yesterday. Please Mr Sunshine put on hat and come out to play.

One last thing, and I think important, is that I am now officially blonde. I would love to show you a photo of my goldilocks but unfortunately this isn't possible today because its a weary Wednesday and my face looks like it belongs to someone else. Tomorrow I should look more human like and will be able to post a picture of said hair and vintage outfit. I don't think today's leggings and old t-shirt qualifies for style.

Until tomorrow xxx

I'm on safari.

I got a bit stuck for todays trend so I've gone for a, and I quote Vogue on this, the 'Afrocentric' look. I had a nightmare journey getting home last night and had no time to think about what to wear today. This morning the decision was made at haste which is why today's outfit is a bit boring. I'm wearing a black dress I bought in LA and a vintage animal print jumper and a navajo print jacket which is about as waterproof as a sponge. Tomorrow I hope to try harder and actually look like I'm taking this challenge seriously.

Onto todays proceedings, I'm not sure about anyone else but I have found today an extremely stressful one. I'm not sure if it's the weather or just my life, but the day has had a strange vibe to it. This rain is quite simply testing my patience and I hope it to stop very soon. I know this month is all about showers but this take the biscuit. April, my dear, you have made your point. I get it you're great at showers, but please can you now turn off the water, get out of the bathroom and put on the heating. Give the sun a chance, poor thing, it's his time to shine now.

The only plus point of today is that I managed to get away with sitting in first class on the train into Paddington without any of the train people catching me. I feel such a rebel but let's face it I was born to be first class!

Today's must must must have is this Valentino dress from the SS12 collection. Even though I could never look as good in it as this I can but dream. All I need is a hot summers day, a glamourous wedding and a hot man on my arm. As Gabrielle once said 'dreams can come true'.

Until tomorrow my fellow fashionistas xxx

Day 2, trend 2

Today's trend is 'Peplums'. They are big this season and can be seen on dresses to skirts to blouses. Today I have gone for a vintage blue peplum blouse I bought from a vintage shop in Hertfordshire called 'Flo's Place' with some skinny black jeans from Primark and floral wedges from Office. Peplums are going to be huge next winter too so my top tip is to buy one now, wear it now and then wear it come winter. I'm really just a money saving expert in the disguise of a vintage wearing, fashion loving, Pinot drinking girl.

I'm now on the countdown to the lovely Lindsay McAloon's wedding which takes place this Sunday. I believe it's going to be real Celtic affair so I'm going to pack my Irish roots, make sure I have somewhere to plant them once I'm there (probably the bar) and enjoy.

Today's must have is sleep, sleep and more sleep. I couldn't be more excited to climb the wooden hill to Bedfordshire. The only thing getting through the week (besides the wedding) is that I have a week off next week. God bless holiday allowances. Until tomorrow x

7 days, 7 trends

For the next 7 days I am going to try 7 different trends in a vintage stylee! So today I am trying the monochrome trend in my Miss Haversham dress and my trusty black opaques. Everyone loves the mono, dress is Topshop, tights are wintery. Ideally I would be Miss Haversham without the black accessories and instead with a aqua slip dress underneath and bare legs. Alas that will not be, I fear, until June. I need the sun to put his hat on so I can embrace the summer trends head on and not with half a foot still in winter (or both legs in my case today).

Saturday 21st April brought us the wedding of Jo and Matt. I wore a purple dress from ASOS, a vintage short sleeve jacket and some floral stilts, I mean heels from Forever 21. Let me tell you these heels are certainly not made for walking. I literally feared for my life each time I got up from my chair. That was however until I had a few pinots, a glass of bubbles and a vodka shot. I caught the bouquet and burnt a whole in the dance floor whilst they were still on my feet. They did eventually come off the more I went to the bar. These are the kind of shoes that should come with a shot of vodka and a health warning!

The wedding reception was quite frankly a bloody good night. The speeches made us cry, the henography made us laugh (well done Miss Holdaway, a superb job) and the vodka shots made us drunk. A beautiful venue, a beautiful bride, a beautiful wedding

Today I need in my life a bikini diet that actually lets me eat the food I like i.e bread and crisps. I booked my Ibiza flights today and if I don't find a eating plan that actually works I'll have to book another seat on the plane for my thighs! Come back tomorrow for trend number 2 xxxx

Stuck in the middle with you.

Ah poor Wednesday, it's just stuck in the middle of the week not knowing if it belongs to the middle of the end, so it just stays were it is holding the to 2 parts together. My Wednesday was simply average not better nor worse than the day before, just average. I do however have a new found respect for that bloke off 'Groundhog Day', my Monday to Fridays may as well be one long day stretching out across the whole week. I think I need a life change.

The weather still belongs to winter which means I'm still in my black opaques and long coat. Today I went for a Laura Lees animal print dress and Topshop shoes. I even had my scarf and gloves on. Seriously weather you need to a copy of Vogue because you are soooo last season.

Today I am lusting after New Looks pastel T bar's. I don't care which colour I have I just need them in my life. Maybe the purple ones, or the mint, or maybe the yellow....oh sod it I'll just have them all.

Until tomorrow my fashion peeps xxxx

Cloudy with a chance of tears.

Tuesday you had such high hopes today and then you really let me down. I thought we were about to form this wonderful friendship after you gave me 2 hotties on the Victoria line but alas our friendship had ended once I reached Paddington. Delays to trains dear Tuesday does not a friendship make. Then you gave us this horrendous weather which means I have no idea what to wear each day. I want to crack out the pastels but instead I'm having to reach for the dreary each morning. I just hope that next week you do better because you haven't just let me down, you've let yourself down.

Talking of reaching for the dreary, today I am wearing a paisley dress from Primark, a Primark jumper and New Look brogues. Is it obvious who I work for? Not that any of these items are dreary of course it's just a bit too wintery for my liking. I want to look like a neapolitan ice cream everyday.

Talking of spring fashion I was a bit naughty today and bought a short suit before pay day Thursday. I found this tropical print number in Primark (feel a bit like this blog is sponsored by Primark today). Not only does it tick 2 trends but it's also an absolute bargain, 30 quid for the lot. A Brucey bargain if ever I saw one. I can't wait to wear it, so come on sunshine help me make my dreams come true.

Until tomorrow xxx

Monday, 16 April 2012

I feel a bit sorry for Monday's, no one really likes them. I think it's because it's a bit smug, It almost says to us 'enjoy your weekend did you? Well enjoy no more because I'm back to start you're working week (cue evil laugh) hahahaha'. See its smug and a little bit mean. Bank holiday Mondays are different though, they are kind and smugless. They give us cheesy family films to watch and episodes of Agatha Christie. Sometimes even Mondays need a day off. Today though it was on full time mode and really sunk its teeth in, I wasn't it's biggest fan today. I hope Tuesday is a little kinder to me.

Today's outfit comes right out of the comfortable side of my wardrobe (the chest of drawers to be exact) this is where all the clothes that don't require ironing live. I had to pick something quickly last night because the hangover had taken over my whole being and would only function properly if I was horizontal at all times. This is why I have gone for black and white leggings from Primark, a black tunic from Topshop (this is about as old as Stonehenge) and mint ballet pumps from Primark. I know I look like I haven't really tried and that's because I haven't, sometimes just like a Monday I need a day off too.

I am massively in need of a short suit like yesterday and have seen this one from ASOS which Santander will know about come Thursday. Payday me up and let me spend.

Until tomorrow xxxxx

It's a kind of magic!

So it's safe to say that I am officially on the hangover highway today, so much so that I have stayed in my pj and Duncan's all the day long. I will spare you a photo because let's face it no one wants to see a 29 year old girl in her bed clothes looking as rough as rough can be.

The reason for my hungover state is caused by Winners' hen party. It was such a great night that consisted of cocktail making (I was shit at it, surprising I know), a magician (FYI he was soooooo hoooooooooot), Mr and Mrs Quiz (we all know winners a little more now) and a game of 'pick up the cereal box with your mouth'(turns out I have the flexibility of 2 tonne Elephant). All this was happened whilst we were dressed to the nines as flapper girls. Doop doop doop doop!

That really is all for today folks. My head is having a party but I havent been invited so I need to tell them to keep the noise down and put down the Pinot.

Back tomorrow.....promise xxx

I think horses are fabulous!

Today is Winners hen party, excited.com, but before that is the Grand National and watching it I will be. I've placed my bet, I have ordered the Pinot and I have chosen my seat in the pub all I need now is for Junior, Seabass, Shakalakaboomboom and Sunnyhillboy to come in and win me some money! Come on my loves run, run like the wind.....and also do a few jumps! At at each way I could be quids in.

I've got my commarde in arms with me today. Me and the lovely Genevieve have arrived in Newbury on the train from London town looking like we have just stepped out of London Fashion Week. I've gone for a 'Miss Haversham' look by wearing a white lace dress from Topshop and back Topshop shoes. Now where have my Pip and Estelle gone!?

On the countdown for the gee gee's to start running and then Winners' hen party.

Stay tuned for more tales of mine and Gen's Ab Fab adventure xxxx

Friday, 13 April 2012

I go to NYU.

Right I'm proper back now for good, as Take That once said. I've been away because I have had a lot of partying to do, a 29th birthday party and 3 hen parties to be exact. All these events were extremely good fun but they all gave me hangovers from another level which meant I was unable to even write a text message let alone a blog entry.

Anyway I am now back to entertain you with my anecdotes and give you an insight to my slightly strange vintage wardrobe.

Let's go back to last weekend and Lindsay's hen weekend in sunny(ish) Falmouth. It all started off as quite a civilised event. Friday night we ate Rick Steins fish and chips, had afternoon tea and a lovely walk to a castle ruin on Saturday afternoon......and then the foam began! Yes, that's right ladies gentleman we went to a foam party and we all (well nearly all) got in and embraced the fairy liquid. I have to admit I was one the last to 'get in', so to speak, as I was head to toe in vintage and was worried about my black vintage hush puppies shoes. FYI they are amazing. It is quite interesting through what a few watered down vodkas and a couple of tequilas can do to your responsible self, as soon as the said liquor settled into my blood stream I didn't think twice about my hush puppies and dived right in. Glad I was too because I was right back to being 18 again living it up on the dance floor at Utopia. It was quite simply one of the best nights ever....and in case you are wondering the hush puppies dried out and still fit like a dream. So the moral of this story is....don't worry about the shoes they will survive, they are shoes after all.

Today is all about the Friday and how I love it so. I've gone for a peppy androgynous look with cobalt blue shorts from M&S Limited Edition, a vintage white shirt, Ralph Lauren jumper and brogues from New Look. If I was an American I would be 21, go to NYU have a bank balance like Blair Wardolf and my biggest daily decision would be 'do I take the Chanel or Mulberry'. Instead I live in uneventful Hertfordshire, am 29, have a bank balance that quite frankly doesn't even deserve an account number and my biggest daily decision is 'shall I stand up on the train or risk sitting down next to the smelly/loud/talking on the phone/listening to music loudly individual' (delete as appropriate). Miss Wardolf you do not know how lucky you are!

Today I am seriously lusting after these Charlotte Olympia cat ballet pumps. They are fairly old news now but I am still very much in need of them. Im not even a cat person but for these I make an exception and if Alexa Chung can wear them then I can too. How amazing these would be with some pastel trousers and a vintage knit. Come on kitty.

I have another lovely hen party this weekend. Sam, or Winners as I like to call her, is having her send of into married life and I for one cannot wait to help her celebrate. Go Winners!

I hope to be back tomorrow with some more tales to tell....so please stayed tuned.

Until next time xxxx

Overdrawn

So Im officially back on the blog. It's been a busy couple of weeks so I've been somewhat quiet on the posting side of things. Saturday night however was the lovely Laura Hardy's hen party in Bournemouth organised by the equally lovely Lisa Halls and Sam Purton. Not only was it 80's tastic but it was bloody brilliant too. We danced, we drank, we watched a comedy show and then we stayed out until 4am. No wait that was just me and 2 other naughty hens. Note to self; you are not 25 anymore and cannot handle nights out until 4am. The truth is though me and said hens would of stayed out longer if we could of done. I was also seen trying to open the door of the closed bar in the hotel. Is it really any wonder I'm still single? I am paying for this drunken night so much that I fear I will always be in debt. Will someone please remind me of this for the next 2 hen parties. I must be sensible, responsible and adult like at all times. Lets see how long that lasts then, I'm sure by Thursday my taste for the Pinot will be back and the weekend will be defined by another glass of wine.

I am actually now on the countdown to the lovely Lindsay McAloon's hen weekend in Falmouth. I'm very excited although right now I can barely keep my eyes open let alone think of 'getting on it' again. I'm pretty sure by August I'll be in rehab after all these hen parties and weddings!!! It'll be worth it though.

So another Monday is over and they certainly don't get any easier. Mine was only brightened up today by the impromptu lunch with Kim and Katie (girls, you sound like TV presenters). Lovely lunch, lovely company. The rest of the day was a blur because quite frankly my eyes were blurry (damn that 4am Pinot filled night out) lets hope tomorrow brings more promise and I hope to be back to normal again, although I'm not sure I ever was in the first place?!

I also promise to get my vintage vibe back on tomorrow, I'm seriously lacking in the vintage outfit department and should be ashamed of myself. Must try harder.

Last but by no means least......God bless a 4 day week! Loves it.

Until tomorrow xxx

Im feeling for Friday

Hello Thursday, how are you? Well I hope. Thank you for visiting us, now go away and bring us Friday!

Now I do realise that I have been a bit quiet over the last few days but I'm back now and ready to tell you about last weekend. It was the lovely Gemma Wright's birthday last Saturday which was a fun filled day consisting of all day drinking, hat competitions and some questionable cologne from the birthday girls boyfriend. You know who you are and you know you wear man perfume! We had a great laugh and even set up our own restaurant!!! We know who we are! Oh the good times we have. We may be knocking on 30's door but we certainly don't act it, and quite rightly too. Why act old when you can act young!?

My outfits over the last few days have quite frankly been questionable, I know this because I have questioned them. This is why I have not included any photos of said outfits. You, my dear reader would lose faith in my wardrobe and we simply can't have that. So I promise to step up my game and return next week all vintage like and that.

I'm the count down to Laura H's hen weekend which the lovely Lisa Halls and Sam Purton have organised, Yes, that's right folks I'm on hen do number 2 and it's 80's themed (the rest is a secret so shhh) which is basically one of my favourite era's of fashion and probably won't even need to dress up. I look quite 'working girl' most days anyway!

Until tomorrow xxxx

The scales don't lie...

There has to be some kind of hot man balance scales that a higher power has control of. Yesterday I was given the hot man to sit next to, today I get B.O man. This man has not only fallen out with deodorant but is also arguing with shampoo and conditioner. Get this man to Boots, he can use my advantage points if he likes. Hopefully tomorrow the sales will tip back. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Today I am quite spring like again and am wearing a vintage shirt dress from Rokit with my mint green pumps.

I am so pleased its Friday tomorrow because I am then one day closer to seeing my beloved friend Gemma to celebrate her 29th birthday. Welcome to the club old girl. An all day drinking session to celebrate you say? Where do I sign? More than excited.

Today's must have is the weekend. That's all.

Spring has sprung

Hello dear reader,

We have reached 'hump day, which means the weekend is in sight. I can see it on the horizon and by the looks of it, it looks pretty damn good!

I'd like it give a special warm welcome to the sunshine today. It's good to see you and I really hope you stay with us. Im wearing today and I think it goes well with hot and sunny, a vintage playsuit from Rokit, a pearl collar jumper and floral wedges from Office! I love a bit of print clash!

I naughtily bought some more vintage today in the name of a white broderie anglaise dress (very Louis Vitton SS12), a peach blouse and some black, pink and green open toe shoes from my faithful Sue Ryder shop. Keep your eye out for them because as soon as I get the old lady musty smell away then they will grace the pages of this here blog!

Tonight ladies and gents (not even sure if any men even read this blog?) ''The Apprentice' is back on our screens and I for one cannot wait. My only criticism is this; why oh why do the ladies insist on suiting and booting circa Next 1990? I'd like to see some well fitted dresses, chic short suits or some double print a la Mary Katranzou! Only time will tell, but I really hope there are some fashionista's amongst them.

Help, the really hot man who I sometimes see on the overland from Highbury & Islington sat next to me on the train tonight and while I'm sure he was texting his girlfriend I was texting my Mum, which isn't even cool when you're 18 let alone when you are 29! I was glad when he got off the train because I really couldn't handle the close proximity! Help is needed and pronto!

Today's must have is.....Eddie Redmayne on the front row of the Burberry AW12 show. This man belongs to me. The end.

Circa 1999

Hello one and all,

I hope you all enjoyed 'The Tube' as much as I did. I'm going to be quite sad next week when it ends. I wonder if they will give us a helpline number to call?

Today I have gone back to the 90's by wearing a cropped jumper over a long white shirt! The jumper is from Topshop, white shirt from ASOS, Topshop leggings and mint ballet pumps from Primark. As you can see there is no vintage today (ooops) however anything over 25 years is considered vintage so at 29 I'm vintage and a bit more!

Today's fashion must have is basically the whole of the Louis Vitton SS12 collection. I loved everything and will be heading to Zara for high street versions and Rokit for vintage fixes.

I love pastels for spring and cant wait for the sun to shine a bit more and the days to be longer so I sit in the pub in my favourite pastel vintage dresses drinking pinot with the girls. Come on spring show yourself!
.
Until tomorrow xxx

Train Spotting

I don't care for Monday's. I always forget how long it takes me to get to work over the weekend. It's like the length of the commute has been erased from my mind as soon as Saturday morning comes along. Getting to work on a Monday is like a full time job in its self. Bad Monday!

Today I am wearing a cream vintage knitted dress from Rokit, vintage blue Bally shoes and my trusty grey cardigan from Topshop. This cardigan has history, it's an oldy but a goodie. It has numerous holes in the pockets and blue ink on the sleeve but I heart it so much. I love how imperfect I am sometimes. I tried to feel a bit more spring like today by wearing lighter colours but once I stepped outside this changed. It was cold and I was miserable.

I am however reminded that this evening at 9pm 'The Tube' will be on. I have become slightly obsessed with The London Underground since watching the documentary so much so that I have now started to bore the girls at work with all that I have learnt about 'The Tube'. Now that I think of it I do remember seeing a camera crew in the drivers cab one morning on the Bakerloo line, they must of been filming then. That is exciting for me. Sorry ill bore off now!

Back to fashion darling and all this week I will be sharing with you my most coveted items from the AW12 shows. Today's Monday must haves are the Chanel shoe boots. They are so amazing it almost hurts a little bit and I cant wait to see the high street versions of these. Please Topshop do some soon so this pain will go away. Although If anyone would like to buy the Chanel ones for me I wouldn't be offended. My shoe size is a 4 and any colour will be fine. Many thanks. Check out the perspex heels. Love, love, love.

Until tomorrow my friends, hope you all have a lovely evening and don't forget BBC2 9pm xxx

First and foremost a happy mothers day to my wonderful mother who is one in a million. So in honour of Mum here is a photo of her circa 1966 with my Aunty Maria and a photo of me and her when I was about 4. I know what you're thinking 'what a cutie Laura was' and you'll be right I was and sometimes I still am, that is though until the pinot comes out to play! I think you'll all agree though that Mum looks amazing in both photo's. Mummy Knightley you are my inspiration and my role model. The lady is on her 6th career....I cant even make one happen. Today Mum this post it dedicated to you.

Let's cast today's blog back to Friday when I found myself in possession of a ipad and today's blog is coming straight from the said iPad. This means the following:

1. I will be able to blog on the move which means more posts, maybe even daily!
2. My technological journey has moved into 5th gear and I'm doing 70mph on the motorway. Considerising that this time 2 years ago I wasn't even on Facebook I have not only embraced technology but I'm having a full blown relationship with it! Facebook, Twitter, iPhone, iPad I'm like a technology geek in overdrive!

So yesterday was St Patricks day and being half Irish means that it's illegal for me not to go out and celebrate, and celebrate I did in true Irish style. I wore a black vintage dress, with a green belt and my Topshop colour block heels......oh and my new blonde hair! They say blondes have more fun and I certainly did. Here are a few photos from last night. I think you'll agree that I didn't let the Irish down at all.

Back to today and Mothers day. Me and Mum went to see the 'Exotic Marigold Hotel' and now I have 2 new obsessions; Bill Nighy and India. Both are beautiful, one is maybe a little old for me and one a long way from home but I would like both in my life please. So if anyone needs me I'll be in India with my mate Bill.

I then took Mum for lunch at Chiquito (me and Mum are pure class...you can take the girl out of Walthamstow but you cant take the Walthamstow out of the girl!) and to my delight the restaurant was running 'Mums eat for free' deal. Best news I had all day! For the said event I wore a vintage bunny jumper (its almost Easter so its OK) from Beyond Retro, Primark jeans and those mind green pumps again!

I hope you all had a lovely Mothering Sunday as I know I did. I would also like to say Happy Mother's Day to my dear Great Aunty Molly who not only is a wonderful lady but a strong one too and at 89 is still such an inspiration. Love you very much Aunty Molly and don't forget you have the luck of the Irish xxx

Short but sweet

I don't know about anyone else but I find Tuesday's often harder than Monday's and today was no exception. At least it's 'hump' day tomorrow though! Woo hoo.

Today I wore a vintage white shirt from Rokit, Topshop leggings and mint ballet pumps from Primark (see I said there would be a lot of mint this month!)

I still have chesty cough visiting and today I sound a lot like Frank Bruno. Maybe the pinot and cigarettes weren't the best idea at the weekend! No, scap that it was totally worth it because it was a bloody great hen party and if all else fails I could try and get a job like one of those ladies have from that channel 4 programme last night?!

Here's to hump day and 3 days until the weekend xxx

1 hen party down 4 more to go!

I am officially old as now my hangovers are not only horrendous but also last longer than one day. Monday's are hard enough without an extended hangover! Plus I have a horrible chesty cough which makes me sound like a man! I'm painting a very attractive picture of myself I know. Today I wore a vintage mint green jumper from Rokit (we are in minty March now so expect me in lot of mint this month), animal print trousers from Topshop and purple wedges from Michael Kors.

Despite the extended hangover the hen weekend was brilliant. The hen herself, Jo, looked amazing and completely TOWIEtastic. The weekend consisted of the following:
  • Prosecco.
  • Wine.
  • More wine.
  • Male strippers.
  • More wine.
  • Hair extensions.
Yes ladies and gents this was a text book hen party and I loved every moment of it. Now as the law of the hen party states: 'what happens at the hen party stays at the hen party'  I cant reveal too much. I will however share some photo's with you of the TOWIE themed night and me looking, I think, quite good with a moustache!

My dress is by Sara Berman and I'm sure she would be so pleased to know I wore it to a TOWIE themed hen party! Note the hair extensions and the non-fake tan from me. Jo babes you look gorgeous and totally reem!

I still have another 4 hen parties to go so there will be many more hilarious photo's to share! I seem to be the entertainment by the end of night so there will be plenty more photo's be looking ridiculous! Loves it!

What time is it? It's TOWIE time!

So the wedding season for me kicks in today with the lovely Jo Aslanawicz's hen weekend! Towie time is now upon us and I'm ready and raring to go with towietastic outfit! However until TOWIE time officially commences I am taking some fashion inspiration from my mum circa 1980 by wearing a mint green vintage dress from Rokit and colour block heels from Topshop. I think you'll agree that my Mum wears an peter pan
collar dress well, great hair too, very 1980's! Hello original fashionista! I am my mothers daughter! If only
had kept all her dresses.....Biba...Ossie Clark.....I'd be in vintage heaven.

The location of TOWIE time is still a secret and all will be revealed later today so come back for TOWIE photo's later xxx

Another Monday another dollar...or a penny in my case!

So the evil cold (I like to think it was the flu) took up all my time last week so it’s been a whole week since my last blog. So here it is back again.

Today I am wearing a dip hem maxi I bought in New York with a Primark jumper and vintage Radley belt and river island wedges.

I went shopping yesterday on Oxford Street in the rain on a Sunday (crazy I know) and after a much needed Wagamma's (yaki udon if you must know) I decided to take a look in Topshop. Well what a mistaka to makea. Not only did I feel too oaf like to try anything on but also too old. So the decision was quickly made, Monday would be the start to the diet and I would be an Amazonian supermodel by TOWIE time. It was all going swimmingly well I had cereal for breakfast,  Ryvita and salad for lunch.....and then it happened, the emergency packet of  pickled onion monster munch jumped out of my bottom drawer and into my mouth. It seemed rude not to finish them all......and then to eat some mini cheddars. You must understand though that this wasn't my fault those monster munch crisps are a law unto themselves. If they are not locked away properly they can escape at ease! I'm also not sure if a mint aero lamb is part of the Amazonian supermodel plan but I do know that it goes well with a green tea and a spreadsheet!

So I'm now officially on the countdown to the weekend as it is the lovely Jo Aslanowicz's hen weekend this but shhh because it's a secret. The only thing I can reveal is that I will be dressed up to the nines channelling the girls of TOWIE and I've tried my dress on and I'm a mixture of this:
Chloe Sims dress - boobs included.
Lydia Bright complexion - this vintage girl does not do fake tan.
Gemma Collins' big hair - hair extensions have been bought and will be used.

This Vintage dahling will become an Essex girl. I'm just hoping it will get me some male attention, although Joey Essex types need not apply!

Look out for photos on Saturday's blog!

Hobo chic?!

Hello dear reader,

Today's blog started on the 19.16 train from Finsbury Park and ended at home in my PJ's after a particularly awful commute home. The Victoria line decided to suspend itself just as I wanted to board so I found myself squashed onto the Piccadilly line instead. Now, there are many advantages to being 5ft 2, those of which mainly involve bring able to wear the highest of heels, but I discovered tonight a major disadvantage of being pocket size. I literally got carried onto the Piccadilly line by an impatient commuter. I'm not sure if it was because he didn't see me or if he just didn't care. Needless to say I had no choice but to cosy up the man standing in front of me. I don't even give my best friends that kind of contact let alone a complete stranger!

As many of you know I am officially the only single person in the world and to make matters worse I work in a all female office (one of the perils of working in fashion darling) which means my male contact starts and finishes on the London Underground. This means I have absolutely no idea if and when a man is chatting me up. For example whilst squashed intimately on the Piccadilly line a gentleman to my right began to talk to me, the conversation went like this:

Man: Would you like to stand here? [against the side seats].
Me: No, I'm fine but thank you anyway.
Man: Hot on here isn't it.
Me: Yes.
Man: The Victoria line is down tonight which is why its so busy.
Me: I know, what a nightmare.

Now I have no idea if he was just being friendly, trying to chat me up or just merely bored? All I know is that I acted like a girl who had never spoken to a man. I seriously need some help!!!!!

I'm afraid there is no 'what I'm wearing today' photo because quite frankly I look like a hobo. I am also full of cold with a nose brighter than Rudolph's!

On a much brighter note Paris fashion week started today which only means one thing, Chanel's AW12/13 show is just around the corner and quite frankly to me that is what its all about. Show us Karl what you've got!!!

Until next time...
